Goulash is an easy dish that will serve a big Amish family (*note: I’ve whittled this recipe down since I’m sure most of you don’t have families of fourteen to cook for. Then again, this makes for an easy dish to take to church socials.)
2 pounds of hamburger
3 cups of uncooked noodles
5 large tomatoes (or 1-16 ounce can of stewed tomatoes)
1 large yellow onion
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 cloves of garlic minced
1 tablespoon of oregano
1/4 cup of cheddar cheese (optional)
In a large skillet, brown hamburger, onion, and seasonings.
Chop tomatoes and add to meat.
Cook noodles separately. Mix noodles and meat together. (Optional: add 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese). Bake 325 for 20 minutes.
Even better reheated the next day!
This is a hearty dish that will keep you warm during those winter months.
