What is the secret to Amish marriage, that they can stay together for the rest of their lives? Is there much unhappiness in marriages? I know I live in a disposable society where even people can be tossed aside without a look back and that is not the Amish way, but I still wonder about this. Is it that they know this is what is expected and are resigned to being together so they work it out?
Going into marriage with both having the mindset that it is until ‘death do us part.’ Divorce is not an option for the Amish, so problems are dealt with. Having a traditional family, patterned after the Bible with the husband being the head of the home, and the wife being the cherished ‘heart’ of the home helps a lot I’m sure.
The Amish are human though, and there are some unhappy marriages.
