There’s something new at my house this December: a Little Free Library! It’s a book box, filled with books to share. I’ve wanted one for years after seeing them in different towns. My street is near a park and gets a lot of walkers, and my town is unincorporated, thus there’s no public library. So…I ordered my own Little Free Library!
At this point, I realized that the post hadn’t arrived yet. I sent an email to the organization and received one right back. Turns out, they said, that the Amish man who built the posts, sent them separately. Serendipity! I had no idea that Amish hands were part of this project.
So far, it’s getting a lot of interest and sparking conversation among neighbors. Just what I hoped for! A small way to build community.
I’m curious…have you ever seen these in your area? Ever thought of hosting one?
