Ginger Snaps

Ingredients
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2C flour
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 t. ginger
  • ½ t. ground cloves
  • ¾ C shortening
  • ¼ C molasses
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Sugar to roll cookies in
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine 1 C. sugar, flour, salt, soda, and spices. Stir lightly.
  2. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg.
  3. Shape dough into one-inch balls and roll them in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350° for 10 min. Remove immediately from baking sheet when done.
