Ah, fall. Usually I can’t wait for the weather to get a little cooler and the leaves to start to change. However, this year, to be honest, I would be happy for the summer months to last a little longer. The memories of last year’s frigid temperatures are still fairly fresh.
I just happened to be speaking (okay, whining) to my Amish friend Clara about this two weeks ago when I was up in Holmes County, Ohio. She listened to my complaints, smiled, and then started telling me about her plans for fall baking. That was her gentle way to remind me that there’s no use complaining about things that are out of our control!
Fall will arrive, the leaves will fall, apples will start being available at all the farmers’ markets here in Ohio, and, undoubtedly, I’ll remember why I love living in a place that truly celebrates four seasons.
One thing that always makes me think of Fall is my recipe for ginger snaps. I received this recipe from Karen, my neighbor down the street when we lived in Texas oh, twenty-five years ago.
I hope this recipe helps you settle into your Fall routine a little more easily, too.
