The lack of emphasis the Amish place on evangelism is often misunderstood. How a person acts says more about their faith than what they say they believe.
Setting an example of a holy life, they feel, makes a better witness than mere talk. So rather than proselytize, the Amish provide practical help when natural disasters strike, usually through CAM (Christian Aid Ministries). The Amish think that we are made in the image of a God who is by nature good. Doing good is God’s work.
To their way of thinking, “You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips.”
